Aidan J. Foster Memorial Scholarship

When our son was just 10 years old, he wrote, "What does it mean to be awesome? The way I see it, awesome means to be smart, fun, playful, and just being yourself. You could also be kind, respectful to other people, be a good role model for others, be nice, be accepting, and just support other people when they are sad. Another way to be awesome is by helping your community by picking up trash and many other things. Just don't let people change you."

These wise words resonate deeply with the spirit of Aidan J. Foster, whose memory we honor through this scholarship. AJ's story reminds us that being awesome goes beyond academic achievements and athletic prowess. It's about embracing one's true self, demonstrating kindness, respect, and being a positive role model for others. AJ's legacy lives on not only in the scholarship that bears his name but also in the hearts of those that knew him. His compassion, unwavering support for others, and dedication to his community are qualities we hold dear when selecting the recipient of this scholarship.

Too often, we are quick to recognize star athletes and those with the highest averages, unintentionally overlooking the ones who exemplify politeness and possess an unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. It is these individuals who embody the true essence of awesomeness.

Let us remember the profound impact that a single individual can have. May we all strive to embrace our awesomeness and make a difference in the lives of others.
